The program recruits local unemployed young people, who are trained by the FSSB Sisters in appropriate skills for elderly care.
The young people provide the elderly with the following services:
Delivering cooked food three times a week
Assisting with household tasks
Checking of the elders' vital signs
Administering over-the-counter medications
Assisting with activities of daily living
The young recruits are also trained in horticulture, sewing, arts and crafts, and soapmaking. Surplus food and handmade products are sold to help fund the program.
The Village Angels program serves two acutely underserved groups: forsaken elders and at-risk unemployed young people.
