You are invited to our Christmas Market - online

Wine bags Etsy.jpg

Since we are living in a pandemic, we are not participating in any Christmas Markets this year.  But the “elves of Kafua” (aka the youths working in our program) have been busy all year sewing their famous wine bottle bags from local fabrics.  One thousand of them!

Since we could not make our annual trip to Tanzania this past summer and pick up the bags directly, our challenge has been getting them from there to here despite the closed borders and airports.  We enlisted the help of a very special Rwandan friend and FedEx.  Our friend, Sadicky, contacted a truck driver friend, who was traveling cross-country to deliver commercial goods from Dar-es-Salam (Tanzania) to Kigali (Rwanda), asked him to stop in Kafua, meet up with Sister Dativa and collect the wine bags from her.  Then he continued his 25-mile drive to the border between Tanzania and Rwanda.  Sadicky was waiting on the other side, picked up the bags, drove back to Kigali (100 miles), packaged them for air freight shipping with FedEx to get the job done, filled out the paperwork, paid the fees upon receiving our money wire, and made the shipping clerk promise the parcel would be well taken care of.  The bags traveled from Kigali to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Milan (Italy) to Memphis to Morristown, where they arrived in perfect condition.  The journey took less than four days!

Does anyone need one thousand wine bottle bags, or one or two or maybe ten?  If you are considering gifting wine to someone this Christmas, would you consider wrapping it in one of our unique bags?

The bags are available for $7 each at our Etsy store. Shipping and handling are included. If you place your order quickly, they can still arrive by Christmas. Go to Etsy.com and search precisely for ShopTheVillageAngels (ONE WORD!).

Thank you for considering.  Just one more thing: Each sale will allow us to feed one of our 80 elders for one week.  So, you see, buying just one bag makes a huge difference for someone!
