A VERY GENEROUS DOCTOR
It started as a normal annual medical visit. When it was over, The Village Angels had received a commission for another 2500 facial masks to be made and distributed to people living in villages in the Rulenge area.
A couple of weeks ago, Sergio entered his doctor’s office with his face covered by a mask made from Tanzanian fabric. His doctor asked him about his mask. Sergio, ever ready to talk about The Village Angels of Tanzania, explained about their mission to feed abandoned elderly people. Youths working in the program are currently making facial masks to distribute locally with the help of CARITAS, a Catholic relief foundation, to earn money for the program.
The doctor left the room. When he returned, he handed Sergio a check for $1000 and said, “Let’s get those youths making more masks to give away!”
The youths will continue to make as many masks as we find money for. We are up to 7500. The local village people are too poor to buy a mask, but they need them as much as the rest of us. We are there to give them this protection. We were thrilled to find a mother with two disable daughters among the recipients.
COVID-19 protection, food for the hungry, purpose-driven work for marginalized youth and the assurance that those who have are helping those who haven’t. Does it get better than this?
